Delhi government set to launch app for packaged commodities  grievances

The Delhi government is set to introduce a new mobile application named 'Maaptol Grievance' to allow consumers to register and receive time-bound redressal for their grievances related to the Legal Metrology Act. 

The app is currently in its trial phase developed by the Weights and Measures Department and requires thorough testing to ensure data consistency and user credential security. 

The mobile application will be available for pre-testing on the Google Play store and will be launched soon by the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. 

Consumers will be able to register various complaints related to goods and products, including overcharging, short supply, and deficient declarations by manufacturers or packers. 

The Weights and Measures Department will address grievances within 48 hours, and consumers will be able to upload photographs and bills for the product through the app. 

Additionally, the app contains guidelines and FAQs to help consumers lodge their complaints easily. Overall, the app aims to protect consumer interests and provide quick and effective redressal for consumer grievances.

Imran Hussain, the Minister of Weights and Measures, has reviewed the status and process of pre-testing the new mobile app developed by the department. He stated that the government is dedicated to ensuring that consumers receive the due value for their money, and are not overcharged for packaged commodities beyond the maximum retail price (MRP). 

How ‘Maaptol Grievance' app works?

The 'Maaptol Grievance' app allows consumers to register various grievances related to goods or products, including overcharging, short supply, and deficient declarations by manufacturers, packers, or importers. The Weights and Measures Department will address the grievances lodged on the app within 48 hours, and consumers can upload photographs and bills through the app. 

Additionally, the app contains guidelines and FAQs to help consumers lodge their complaints quickly and easily. The app aims to protect consumer interests by providing quick online registration of grievances through a mobile phone and ensuring effective redressal of consumer grievances while keeping the consumer informed at each stage through SMS.
