GST Taxpayers Can File Their GSTR-3b Returns in A Staggered Manner

The Ministry of Finance in its press release dated 22nd January 2020 has taken steps against difficulties faced by industry in filing of return. Now, taxpayers can file their return in staggered manner without paying late fee. Due date of filing GSTR-3B for various categories of tax payer without paying late fee is as follows:

  1. Annual Turnover of 5 Crore and above in previous financial year: 20th of every month
  2. Annual Turnover below Rs. 5 Crore in previous financial year is further divided into two categories based on states/UT

15 states/UT: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh 22 states/UT: Jammu and Kashmir, Laddakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. This step of Government may reduce the glitches occurred on GST portal while filing the return. Thus, saving the time of tax payer and reducing their difficulties.
