Latest BIS Notification 2024 Cookware, Utensils and Cans for foods and beverages Quality Control Order 2024
The Ministry of Commerce and industry (India) has issued a quality control directive i.e. Cookware, Utensils and Cans for foods and beverages (Quality Control) Order 2024.
This order shall come into force on the 1st September, 2024. However, Micro Enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it shall come into force with effect from the 1st March, 2025 and Small Enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it shall come into force with effect from the 1st December, 2024.
Under this order, all cookware, Utensils and Cans for foods and beverages must adhere to specific Indian standards, including 14756:2022 (stainless steel utensils). These products should carry the standard mark, obtained through a license from the bureau of Indian standards.
As long as a company is registered on the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Udyam portal and produces goods or articles domestically, as long as the company's original cost of plant, machinery, or equipment does not exceed twenty-five lakh rupees, and as long as a chartered accountant certifies that its previous financial year's turnover did not exceed two crore rupees, nothing in this order will apply to them.
