The "Electrical Appliances for Domestic Water Heating (Quality Control) Order, 2023" is a quality control directive that was released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This order will come into effect after six months have passed from the date of publication of this notification in the Government Gazette. However, it will be effective for micro enterprises – as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006). It shall come into force on the expiry of one full year from the date of publication of this notification and for small enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it shall come into force on the expiry of nine months from the date of publication of this notification.

Under this order, all cookware, Appliances for stationary storage type electric water heaters, Appliances for electric instantaneous water heaters, Electric Immersion Water Heater, Stationary storage type electric water heaters and Mini domestic water heater for use with piped natural gas (PNG) must adhere to specific Indian standards as per the standards. The standard mark, which was acquired through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), ought to be applied to these products. With the exception that items made in the country for export are not covered by this order.
