70 New Reforms: Ease of Doing Business is A Reality in Delhi

70 New Reforms: Ease of Doing Business is A Reality in Delhi, India

The Delhi Government is actively promoting ease of doing business. In a recent move, they approved 70 reforms in Delhi across 16 departments in order to reduce the compliance burden on businesses and individuals and expedite the approvals for various government services. The various departments where the reforms have been approved include labour, revenue department, IT, power etc. Here are a few reforms across these departments that will promote ease of doing business in India.

Revenue Department

22 reforms were approved under the revenue department. Some of the key reforms in this area include:

  •  Ensuring that the searchable metadata for land deeds is available in the public domain.
  •  Digitising and publishing the land transaction deeds online.
  •  Creating an online system for the purpose of registration of partnership firms.
  •  For filing complaints in relation to the property registration at the sub-registrar, implementing an independent grievance mechanism.

Labour Department

10 reforms were approved under the labour department. Some of the key reforms in this area include:

  •  Developing a single form for registration of trade licenses and shops and establishments.
  •  Eliminating provisions that restrict women to work in night shifts.
  •  Auto-renewal of factory licenses.
  •  An nline dashboard to be published in the public domain for all the registrations and approvals.

IT Department

20 reforms were approved under the IT department. Some of the key reforms in this area include:

  •  Payment, tracking and download of final birth and death certificates, domicile certificates, income certificates etc.
  •  Developing an online system for the purpose of user manual flow of submission of applications.

Other Departments

  • The excise department has been asked by the government to publish an online dashboard in the public domain in relation to all the approvals and registrations.
  • Reforms approved under the drug control department include the elimination of the requirement of registration renewal or allowing auto-renewal. This will cover the retail, wholesale as well as manufacturing sector.
